back after a 20 year snooze and super-refreshed!
In 2009, something incredible happened — Semi-Twang reunited. The occasion was the twentieth anniversary of Shank Hall, a legendary Milwaukee venue owned and operated by Peter Jest. Semi-Twang was the first band to play there, and Peter asked if we would consider playing for his celebration. It had been close to twenty years since we had been a band. We had remained friends, but it hadn’t occurred to any of to get back together. Now I wish someone had suggested it sooner.
The first rehearsal was all it took for everyone to reconnect. Chemistry is a strange thing, but we had it the first time round and it was there and visible on the faces of Mike Sieger, Mike Hoffmann, Bob Jennings, Bob Schneider and Jason Klagstad as we ran down the old tunes. Aside from a preponderance of Mikes and Bobs, we had our fair share of guitarists (3) and the problem of dancing around each other, while tricky the first time around, was easier to solve with a more mellowed-out veteran bunch.
That first gig went great and the momentum carried us into the studio to begin work on our second official release, Wages Of Sin, released in 2011. In 2013 we put out The Why & The What For, and work has begun on our fourth recording. The reception for both new projects has been terrific and the live shows have been a treat. There's something to be said for chemistry.
Semi-Twang lives on the web right here.
